The Dish: Apple and Cheese Grill – Just try it!

So what does raison bread, honey mustard, ham, sharp cheddar cheese and apples have in common? They all have their part in the making of one of the tastiest sandwiches EVER. Sounds like a weird combo we know, but give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed!

Here’s what you need:

  • 4 slices of raison bread
  • Mustard (Dijon works really good)
  • Honey
  • Sliced ham(we usually use honey ham)
  • A block of nice sharp(old) cheddar cheese
  • A large apple(McIntosh works, and one apple should be enough to make 4 sandwiches)
  • softened butter
  • some kind of grill

Apple Sandwich

Butter up one side of the bread (the outside…side)

Apple and cheese sandwich

Thinly slice up the apple. Geesh, I really did a terrible job here. I hang my head in shame.

Spread on the honey/mustard combo you made up(it’s kind of a personal preference thing but it should be about half of each)

0618

Then put on the ham…

0619

Then the apples…

0620

Then, you guessed it, the cheese! Make sure you put things together in the right order for maximum flavor.

0621

Throw on the top slice and grill that thing

Oh it’s good, trust us, it’s good.

It looked so good that I just had to try it so I dragged out my Panini grill and grilled up a couple of them. Thanks for the great recipe, they tasted great even though I discovered that I didn’t get the order of assembly just right.
