We’ve got some great news! The wonderful people at The Lemarchand Mansion in downtown Edmonton have allowed us to use the facility for another day! We asked, and they delivered. So in addition to us presenting The Full Circle // A Wedding Photography Workshop on September 25th, we’re also going to be teaching two beginner photography classes on Saturday October 15th!

You might remember when we first introduced our Beginner Photography Workshop earlier this year. It was a huge success with a whopping 183 photographers signing up in less than 72 hours! Well, we’re taking that class and supercharging it by doubling the class time (from 2 hours to 4 hours), cutting the number of students per class almost in half (12 students per class rather than 20) and holding the class at the incredible Lemarchand Mansion, which is perched on the edge of Edmonton’s river valley!  We can’t think of a better place to get inspired and learn the craft of photography.

There’s not much that excites us more than sharing what we know with people who want to take their photography to the next level, which is why we put together the Beginner Photography Course. This is a class for people who just moved up from the land of point and shoot cameras and into the magical world of DSLR cameras (the ones that have interchangeable lenses) or any camera that let’s YOU control the shot.

So here’s a little FAQ:

Who is this class for?
This class is for people who want to capture the world around them in a beautiful, striking and creative way using their digital cameras.

What will I learn?
The key elements of creating great, meaningful photographs
1. being there and being ready
2. seeing the light (how your camera sees it)
3. knowing your gear and how to take control of it (which includes how to shoot manually, learning what aperture, shutter and ISO really do for you and the image YOU want to capture/create, and how to choose the right equipment)
4. post processing like a pro (how to take a good photo and make it incredible!)

The great thing about this class is that what we are teaching will be very useful information to both beginners as well as more advanced shooters. Everything that we are teaching came from our own experience as professional photographers as well as from what we’ve picked up in the classes we’ve attended over the years, hosted by some of the best photographers in the world. So there’s lots to learn for everyone!

Four solid hours of classroom/shooting time and a small 12 person class size will make for an incredible learning environment!

We’ll be covering all these topics both in our lovely mansion classroom as well as out in the incredibly photogenic area of the Edmonton river valley!

What do I need to bring?
- a digital camera that has the ability to be fully controlled by the photographer – This includes all DSLR cameras (the ones with interchangeable lenses) and any digital camera with a full manual control setting.
- your cameras owners manual – this isn’t an absolute necessity, but it may come in handy!
- any lenses or flashes that you’d like to use though out the class
- a note pad and pen (or a laptop if you’re feeling fancy, but keep in mind that we’ll be heading outside for a portion of the class)

We’re REALLY excited about the location we were able to get for this class! It will be held in the lower section of the brand new Transcend Coffee on Jasper Ave (10349 Jasper Avenue Edmonton, AB T5J 1Y5). So when you walk in, just stroll right on through the main seating area(after you grab an INCREDIBLE cup of coffee of course) and go down the set of stairs.

So incase you were wondering about the moustaches, Movember’s thing is to encourage all the guys out there to grow big luscious moustaches (or Mo’s) for the month of November and get sponsors to donate money towards prostate cancer research. You better look out because yours truly (as in Ryan…not Beth) will be growing what I hope will resemble a moustache in support of this cause!

As for the buying cute things… I found these adorable boots on etsy.com, then I found out that the seller was from the Edmonton area! I love to be able to shop local, its so much more convenient and we met up so I didn’t have to pay for shipping! I met with Ashley from Nesting Sticks on Saturday and  I really just couldn’t help myself. I was just going to get the boots…

But really how could I resist a cute visor hat?

Doesn’t it all look so adorable together She even threw in a soother clip!

So the ones you see here are the 10″x10″ Soft Kiss and the 4″x4″ Little Kiss.

First off, check out the awesome, fitted cloth bags they come in

Dana and Nic went with “Redlight Red” for the color. There’s seven colors to choose from(all with saucy names, of course)

Check out the seamless lay-flat binding. This lets us design from corner to corner without worrying about part of the image being lost in the seam. Love it.

Here’s another great example. We could never design a full spread like this with a traditionally bound album

I know it’s hard to tell on a computer screen, but the amount of detail in the print is outstanding. Yay!

We’ve got two more on the way and one of them is a “Hard Kiss” which means it has a full grain leather cover and thicker pages then the Soft Kiss. We can’t wait to see it(and better yet, we actually get to keep the next one)!
