E-Sessions // Rebecca and Adam's All Black and White Session
Rebecca and Adam are fantastic people and we're excited to be attending their wedding this month as guests! That's right, we're leaving the cameras at home for a change; we can't wait! Anyways, we really wanted to get out and take a few shots with them before their big day as a thank you for helping us with last September's Full Circle Wedding Workshop. Rebecca is a wedding and event planner/stylist and she did a bang up job with our last two workshops. Taking some photos was the least we could do! We wanted to do something a little different at this session--something that we felt fit Rebecca and Adam as a couple. We decided to go for a timeless, classic look and shot the entire session on black and white medium format and large format film. There are three shots in this set that were taken with our 70 year old 4x5 camera (Graflex Speed Graphic with a Kodak Aero Ektar 178mm f2.5), starting with the first shot (photo #1,#4 and #12 we all 4x5). Shooting 4x5 comes along with a very different way of setting up the shot and taking the picture. Once we find a great spot for light, composition, etc, we get Rebecca and Adam all set up, but once I've focused the camera using the ground glass on the back (with a coat over my head) they can't move a muscle until I hit the shutter button. It's a fun experience and they did great. Between the cameras and films used, we came out with some beautiful, nearly-3D shots that just can't be replicated with digital slr's. Check em out!
