The Big Day || April and Jeremiah's Edmonton Wedding! (Film Edition)
I'm excited to show you this blog post for so many reasons.
Beth and I were first introduced to April when she was a bridesmaid at Megan and Mike's wedding from last September. We had such a great time at that wedding with everyone, so when we got an email from April about shooting her wedding, we jumped at the chance. We love to see familiar faces at the weddings we shoot!
Reason #1 - Awesome people
When we sat down with April to talk about her wedding, at some point the conversation got around to how I love to shoot film (as it usually does with me...) and her eyes lit up! She then told us how her and her then fiancé, Jeremiah are big film buffs themselves. At that point my eyes lit up (our table must have looked kinda weird)... I said "hey I would love to shoot a pile of film at your wedding"...and she said sure!
Reason #2 - Holy smokes, they're film photographers too! Release the nerd hounds.
Now if you know me, you'll know that I've always been a big film guy and it was only a few years ago that I broke down and purchased a digital SLR for my professional work...yes I was a film snob. Now, I really like digital and I won't be giving it up any time soon, but I've had a burrrrn'n desire to break out my glorious film cameras again at the weddings we shoot. Film lends itself so well to a wedding day. The mood, the colours, and the emotions translate perfectly onto film in my opinion. So I've been shooting film here and there at weddings since last August and I've been loving the results. For April and Jeremiah's wedding, I really focused on shooting film all throughout the day. Beth and I still shot digital like crazy, but I really wanted to put together a blog post that showcases (to the best of my ability) how great film is and why I enjoy shooting it so much.
Reason #3 - Every shot you'll see below is film.
Enjoy, feel free to leave some loving words for April and Jeremiah and let us know what you think!
We'll be posting some digital shots from their wedding as well, so stay tuned!
Congrats April and Jeremiah, we couldn't ask for a more wonderful and inspiring couple to photograph.
